Upstate New York Meth Lab Discovered! Is This Happening In Your Town?
I loved the television series Breaking Bad. Have you seen it? Bryan Cranston was great as a school teacher turned drug kingpin. Watching the show gets you caught up in the saga of these two guys navigating their way through making crystal meth, selling it to drug lords, escaping death time and time again.
Here's the thing, a show like that is fun to watch from the safety of your couch. Reality is, there are people making crystal meth right here in New York State, possibly in your hometown and some of those individuals were caught this week.

New York State Police sent their Contaminated Crime Scene Emergency Response Team to investigate, what officials are calling, an active meth lab discovery. The Cortland County Drug Task Force was also on the scene to help assess what was found.
As you can imaging, the chemicals used to make methamphetamine are extremely dangerous, poisonous and highly flammable and this meth lab had all of the typical ingredients. With that in mind officers took every precaution as you can see here.
Members of the New York State Police CCSERT division are highly trained and experienced Hazardous Materials Technicians. These officers specialize dismantling meth labs such as this one. They also do the painstaking work of documenting all of the items found at the site.
The CCSERT team here in New York State was created to train and equip members to respond to terrorist actions involving chemical, biological, nuclear and explosive material. These special ops also handle these, often hidden in plain sight, drug labs.
If you have information of a drug lab near you please call the New York State Police at (866) 313-TIPS (8477). You might even get a $2500 reward.
