If you think you have what it takes to be a New York State Trooper, applications are being accepted to take the entrance exam. There is also a new recruitment outreach program that is designed to help increase more minorities and women to become New York State Troopers.

There are some important requirements for becoming a New York State Trooper. You must be between the ages of 20 and 29 unless you have served in the military. You will be able to add up to seven years for each full-year served in active duty. You must also be a United States citizen and have a high school diploma or equivalent.

According to WKBW.com, the New York State Trooper exam will be given from January to April of 2022. The test will be given online at authorized testing centers. This is the first time it will be held this way in New York State Police history. The exam is being given in this way to make it more easily accessible to those who wish to take it.

Governor Kathy Hochul said of the exam:

The New York State Police's proud tradition of public service dates back more than a century, and we're opening applications to become part of one of the elite law enforcement agencies in the nation. It's critically important that our troopers reflect who we are as a state, and that's why we're reaching out to all communities to find the future leaders of the State Police. We encourage anyone looking to make a difference to consider a career as a New York State Trooper.

There should be a testing site near you. The exam will be offered at fifty-four centers across the state, over two hundred fifty locations in the US, and one hundred twelve military locations.

There is a fee of twenty dollars for the test and then another thirty-five dollar fee once you picked out your testing site, date, and time. To sign up to take the exam click HERE.
