I am a horror movie fan. The first real horror movie I saw was Halloween at a sleepover when I was 10 years-old. Next came Friday the 13th. Jason Voorhees, or Mrs. Voorhees in the first movie, has always been my favorite. The movies are campy (no pun intended) and creepy and basically defined the genre of slashers films for generations. I've passed along the love of horror movies to my 16 year-old daughter.

So the idea of being able to tour the original camp where they filmed Friday the 13th is cool….to stay overnight would be a dream come true! That’s exactly what the real Boy Scout Camp No-Be-Bo-Sco in Hardwick, NJ is letting you do….for a price of course. A few times a year, the camp opens its doors to Jason fans to relive a piece of movie history…..around a Friday the 13th date. The best part is that it’s only 3 hours from Albany!

Most of the camp is just like it was when they filmed the movie back in 1979. The archery range, the generator building and most of the other places that will evoke that familiar  Chh chh chh… hahh hahh hahh sound in your head.

So, why bring this up now, in July? The next Friday the 13th is September 13th and to get tickets you have to sign up now. Now, there's no guarantee that they will be doing tours in September, but the rumor is that they are.

Want to get in on this like I do? Go to the Crystal Lake Tours website and enter the lottery. Since they get thousands of entrees they have to use a lottery system. If you get picked, you have 24 hours to purchase tickets to the event…..at $135 a ticket. Good luck! I'm entered and really hope to win.
