Wedding Gown Dumped on the Side of the Road in Coxsackie

An expensive Vera Wang wedding dress was thrown on the side of the road in Coxsackie and nobody knows who or why someone tossed it there. Sounds like the beginning of a movie, doesn't it? To me, and apparently a lot of people by the comments on the Village of Coxsackie Facebook page, there are a couple of movies I immediately think of with a discarded wedding dress.

Like, Sally Fields in "Smokey and the Bandit". While the Trans Am is speeding down the road the wedding dress goes flying out the t-tops. To which Jerry Reed's character, Snowman replies, "What's she wearing now?"

To me, and apparently a lot of people by the comments on the Village of Coxsackie Facebook page, there are a couple of movies people immediately think of with a discarded wedding dress.

Another is the Julia Roberts rom-com, "Runaway Bride". In the movie, she runs from several weddings until she falls in love with Richard Gere. Sorry if that's a spoiler, it was released 21 years ago, I think the time of spoilers has passed.

So, here's what we do know about the discarded wedding dress. According to News 10, a Coxsackie Police Officer found the wedding dress inside a Davids Bridal garment bag on the side of Route 385. The wedding dress is a size 6, Vera Wang, with buttons down the back. There was no name or tags that would identify who owns the dress. Was it thrown away because of a break-up? Was it discarded because the bride-to-be hated it? Or was it accidentally dropped on the side of the road and now some bride is desperately looking for her dress? It's a mystery that sounds right out of the script of a romantic comedy.
