My wife used to tell our kids, "You get what you get and you don't throw a fit." Sometimes don't you feel that way about what we have, and more importantly what we don't have in the Capital District?

Hey, we have Sams....you don't need a Costco. We have a Chick-Fil-A...sure you have to go to the airport to enjoy it, but it's technically here.

So, what do the people here think we are missing? The Albany Business Journal did a survey to find out what people think we're missing in our area. Here are a few of the highlights.

A Wegmans Grocery Store is one of the things I hear all the time and it shows up toward the top of their survey. I had never been in one until we stopped at one in Pennsylvania....and I was pretty blown away by it. It seems like the chain is slowly creeping toward the Capital Region....but for most it's not fast enough.

People also really want to see additional Chick-Fil-A locations around the area...not just at the airport. Quite frankly they would be smart to open a few locations, especially with the popularity of the Popeye's Chicken Sandwich here and no real competition.

Other things mentioned in the survey were things like Costco, Ikea, a bigger airport, professional sports teams, affordable transportation and a better waterfront with more to do.

I think a good mid-sized concert venue would be great. Something in the 5,000-10,000 seat range for shows that are too big for The Palace, but too small for SPAC.

So what do you think? What are we missing in the Capital Region? You can check out the entire survey HERE.
