It's impossible to imagine what goes through the mind of a young and talented ballplayer on the brink of being selected in the MLB Draft by the team he grew up rooting for.  At this stage of a young athlete's life, it's a dream come true to be selected by any team that wants you, let alone the most storied and successful franchise in the history of professional sports; The New York Yankees.

But that is exactly what happened on Tuesday when the Bronx Bombers drafted picther Danny Watson, a former standout pitcher at Columbia High School in East Greenbush.  The 6'7" inch hard throwing, right-handed pitcher was taken by the Yanks in the 15th round of the 2021 MLB Draft.

After Watson excelled at Columbia HS, he went on to play college ball down south at Virginia Commonwealth University, but in his heart he always wanted to be a Yankee.

The former Blue Devil told the Times Union, "I've been a Yankee fan my whole entire life," Watson said. "So it's definitely a dream come true to be selected by the Yankees. My whole entire room was decked out in Yankee gear. I owned a whole lot of Yankee stuff, so it's surreal."

Watson, according to the Times Union, lives in Florida now with his parents and he reported to the Yankees spring training faciliy in Tampa on Wednesday.
