You Can Buy Alcohol At New York Movie Theaters? The Answer Could Soon Be Yes!
According to The Takeout, the most popular movie theater candy in New York State is cookie dough bites. Other favorites include peanut M&M, Twizzlers and Reese's Pieces. Soon we may see vodka, bourbon and whiskey make the list in the Empire State.
The New York State Assembly passed measures this week that would allow the sale of alcohol in movie theaters. Currently some theaters offer the sale of beer and wine. If these measures make it to Governor Hochul's desk she could sign it into law.
Selling alcohol in movie theaters in New York State is not the only alcohol related measure up for consideration. The Assembly is also suggesting that consumers be allowed to continue purchasing take-out alcohol from bars and restaurants.
These latest alcohol measures are part of a larger State budget agreement and at least one New York State Senator is on board. Senator James Skoufis, a Democrat who chairs a legislative committee where state alcohol laws pass through, had this to say:

There are guidelines in place so that movie theaters do not become the local bar or pub. In an attempt to keep a movie theater's family-friendly atmosphere the following steps are required:
- Theatres must have a license to sell alcohol
- People would only be allowed to purchase one alcoholic beverage per transaction
- Theaters must stop selling alcohol once the credits start rolling in for the last showing of the day
