For what? was probably the first thought to enter your mind. I know it was when I read this. I thought maybe it's for the hottest male singer who was also an actor who played in Fight Club, one of the greatest movies in existence. That makes no sense though, was my next thought, because that doesn't include the whole band. Read on to find out what first milestone the trio has reached.

On December 4, 2009, 3o Seconds to Mars released their latest, third studio album, This is War. Since then, the band has played almost 300 shows in support of that album, which is the longest-running album-supporting tour to date, which qualified them for the Guinness Book of World Records. The record will be official on December 7, when the band performs at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City at their 300th performance in two years. Forget Pearl Harbor day- December 7 can now be known as 30 STM day-70 years later!

The band will put on a week full of shows after their NYC performance to further celebrate their huge achievement.

According to the article:

We have been on the road for an incredible and insane two years and thought what better way to celebrate the end of this phenomenal journey than with a week of special shows in New York City, Leto said in a statement.

He continued, We thought documenting this for posterity with the Guinness Book of World Records would be fun, especially as we aren't any good at growing our fingernails very long or cultivating the world's largest squash.

I love 30 STM, and very much enjoyed their mind-blowing performance back when they visited the area in February. I guess there really is a record for everything, and who better to reach one than an awesome rock band who earlier in the year was rumored to be breaking up, and then won two Kerrang! awards just months later. Even if they do break up anytime soon, they will always have their spot in the Guinness book!

Are you a 30 STM fan? What do you think of this news?
