Get some grease to slick back your hair, peg your jeans and grab your best girl in her poodle skirt because the 50s are coming back to Cohoes. Well, at least there is a new 50s themed ice cream parlor that is opening this spring.

According to the Albany Business Review, the owners of Teta Marie's Lebanese restaurant are planning on opening the new Sweet Happy Days Ice Cream and Dessert Parlor sometime in April at 86 Remsen Street.

The parlor will feature homemade ice cream that will take you back to yesteryear. Not only will it serve the normal American desserts and ice creams, but will also include some Lebanese-inspired sweets too.

Brenda and Joseph Hage decided to open the ice cream parlor after seeing the improvements to the Cohoes area and they wanted to expand their business. Brenda Hage told the Albany Business Review that there were a lot of shops and boutiques popping up in Cohoes and an ice cream parlor would appeal to the older crowd that would like to sit and enjoy a treat in a place that would remind them of the past.

Brenda and Joseph Hage are asking for some help from locals to help decorate the ice cream parlor. If you have photographs, memorabilia or something from the '50s that would make a great decoration you can contact them at Teta Marie's to see if they would like to include it in the new place.
