518 Foodies Drama Continues With Lawsuits and More Accusations
The drama surrounding the Capital Region's foodie go-to continue to unfold as they've now opened up a lawsuit against a local restaurant.
It all started with a complaint about soup. Now things have escalated within the 518 Foodies community and the owner of the group is taking legal action against those she claims are defaming her.
Earlier this week a local Capital Region resident went viral after making claims of her post being taken down from the Foodies page. That's snowballed into more claims from others in the area have issues with 518 Foodies, and now it looks like the owner of that page, Jackie Silvestri-Edwards, is taking it to the courts.

The Times Union reports that Silvestri-Edwards is now suing the owners of Taste of Italy for $450,000 for defamation of character. Steve Barnes, who gets a HUGE shoutout for his reporting, says that Taste of Italy wasn't even aware of the lawsuit until he contacted them. They say "good, let her sure us."
All of that comes from their claim that 518 Foodies refused to remove a negative review about Taste of Italy. Meanwhile, the Taste of Italy owners say that they paid Silvestri-Edwards "thousands of dollars" and got nothing out of it after signing up for her marketing program. Silverstri-Edwards says that the owners of Taste of Italy have been making false accusations about her and her business and also threatened her.
It all sounds really, really messy.
In the meantime, the woman, Toni, who just wanted to let people know about her bad experience with hair in soup, has revealed more about 518 Foodies on Facebook. In that post, linked, she states:
To the 518 Community,
I feel it is important to address an incident involving Jackie Silvestri-Edwards, the owner of 518Foodies, and the actions taken following my original post about discovering clumps of hair in a bowl of ramen I ordered. What should have been a simple matter of addressing a food safety concern turned into an unacceptable breach of my privacy and trust.
