New York state has had some long historical ties to this country and a visit from their royal family continues a centuries old relationship.

Get ready for royalty to invade the Capital Region. The King and Queen of the Netherlands will be in Albany, NY next Wednesday June 12th visiting with the Gov. Hochl at the Governor's Mansion.

King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima will be on a United States tour where not only will they visit New York City and the Capital Region but they will also be visiting Georgia, who is their largest US trade partner.

So what is the purpose of this visit?

It's all about business and relationships. New York, is after all, rich in Dutch heritage. While they are here in Albany they'll be checking out the nanotech campus at UAlbany as well as visiting the Schuyler Mansion, home to General Phillip Schuyler who was Dutch.

There is a ton of Dutch history around the Capital Region including 48 Hudson Ave, aka the oldest home in Albany.

So make sure to work on your bows and other fancy things. You won't want tog et caught off guard by a king and queen wandering around the city of Albany.
