Bob Ziter, owner of one of the Capital Region's only remaining 24 hour diners has passed away at the age of 75. His family confirmed that he died on Friday after a brief illness.

The Times Union Reports that the death came as a shock to both customers and employees who saw Bob all the up until February 8th. Employees shared that he was always supportive of them, gave birthday cards and made sure that their children were well taken care of.

Having visited Bob's a few times it always felt like stepping into the kitchen of a relative. The food was always great and the service was top notch. This is one of the last Diners where you really felt like you were part of a family when you were there. Now that Bob is gone a big chunk of that feeling for many in the Capital Region will be lost.

Future of the Diner?

As of right now it looks like Bob's son Ryan will be taking over the day to day operations of running the Diner.

We hope that everything will remain the same at Bob's, which has been serving up great diner food for almost 50 years. It first opened in 1979. Bob's is one of those places that is local legend status. If you're out late, Bob's the place to be. If you're up early, it's a place to get breakfast. It has been there for us, so we should be there for it.

Thoughts are with Bob's family, employees and friends. RIP.
