Minnesota is the land of 10,000 lakes but not one of them landed in the Travel & Leisure Top 10 of Most Beautiful Lake Towns to Visit in the United States.

New York State has just shy of 8,000 beautiful lakes, ponds, and reservoirs, 7850 to be more accurate. Lake Placid, home to the Lake Placid Olympic Museum, Olympic Jumping Complex, Whiteface Mountain, and of course there is Mirror Lake. All of these attractions add to the lure of Lake Placid but it may be the picture perfect alpine village with shops, restaurants, and candy stores that laned this lake town in the top 10.

Skaneateles - "The jewel of the Finger Lakes", enjoy Clift Park with lake views, hiking trails, and boat cruises before exploring the downtown boutiques, bakeries and restaurants in the village.

Bolton Landing - Home to the world famous Sagamore Resort, is located on the shores of Lake George but with a slightly different vibe. Great shops and restaurants and I recommend a lakeside meal at the Algonquin.

Important Safety Tip - Unplug These Items Before You Go On A Vacation

As you are packing your suitcase and getting ready for a vacation, don't forget to also unplug these items before you leave your home. Not only will unplugging these items help save you a little bit of money on your energy bill while you are away, but this also reduces the risk of having a fire.
