First Bomb Cyclone of the Fall Could Head To Northeast This Weekend
A potential Bomb Cyclone could be headed to the northeast this weekend. What does this mean for Albany, New York and the entire Capital Region? Let's take a look at the latest forecast.
A bombogenesis, according to the National Ocean Service, is a term used by meteorologists when a cold air mass collides with a warm air mass, such as air over warm ocean waters. It is popularly referred to as a bomb cyclone.

According to Fox Weather, a powerful storm is expected to rapidly intensify off the New England coast and move into the Atlantic toward Canada. At the same time it looks like a cold front will sweep across the Northeast making for very windy conditions.
The weekend forecast for the Capital Region shows partly sunny skies but look at the temperature drop. We will go from a daytime high of 61 degrees Friday to a daytime high of 46 on Saturday with windy conditions. That's a 15 degree drop!
The highest elevations of the Adirondacks could see 1 to 3 inches of snow as a result of this bombogenesis. I don't know about you but I am not ready for snow, power outages, or 40 degree daytime highs. It's too soon for all of this.
