Today would have been Chris Cornell's 56th birthday.  In a fitting manner on the rock legend's birthday, a previous unreleased cover of Guns N' Roses "Patience" done by Cornell was released.

I took a listen to the cover on his official website this morning.  A huge fan of Cornell's solo work, and the unique take he has on covers (of course immediately "Billie Jean" comes to mind), I had to hear it.

While it's been some time since Cornell passed away, his legend nor his memory have dimmed.  The release of "Patience" is one more reminder of why that is.  As I listened, I got lost.  Lost in Cornell's voice, lost in his cover with a simple musical background, and lost the fact that this was even a GNR song.  Even after death, Cornell has a way of making something his own.

A nice sentiment was written on his Facebook Page, along with the music.  Take a listen and celebrate Chris Cornell here.
