It is becoming a common trend with brick & mortar retail stores, and now a women's clothing chain will close 2 Capital Region locations.

Add Charlotte Russe to the list of retailers who have gone bankrupt and are setting up shop. According to a Times Union report, the women's clothing chain will be closing all of their stores including locations at the Crossgates and Wilton Malls. Charlotte Russe operates a total of 22 stores in the state of New York and 416 across the country. The Times Union report also says gift cards will only be accepted through March 21 and April 30th is the target closing date for the stores as they liquidate merchandise.

It is definitely another sign of how the retail world is evolving with the focus on online sales, but it has also been interesting watching Crossgates evolve to more of a shopping/entertainment destination over the last few years. The new Skyloft music venue opening at the mall is a great indicator of that continuing trend.
