Dog Shot in Rensselaer County, Police Need Your Help
New York State Police are looking for answers after a dog was found shot to death in Sand Lake. The dog was found Friday near the power lines off Stewart Lane after someone in the area found it and called police.
It appears the dog was killed by a gunshot. Police are trying to locate the owner of the dog, which they say is a German Short Haired Pointer. He's a neutered male, mostly white with some brown spots. They also report he had a large cyst on his front left paw. The age of the dog is unknown, but they believe he's older based on some grey hair around his nose and mouth.
Police haven't said whether they believe the dog's death was malicious or an accident. They also did not say when they think the dog may have died or how long he may have been in that area before being found.
