The driver in a fatal 2012 car crash that took the lives of two Shenendehowa High School students has been denied parole.

According to The Times Union, Dennis Drue plead guilty to 58 counts connected to the deadly crash back on Dec. 1, 2012 that took the lives of Chris Stewart and Deanna Rivers and was sentenced to 5 to 15 years in Dec. 2013. Both the Stewart and River's family started a petition earlier this year to assure that the parole board would deny parole for Drue. Debbie Rivers took to social media on Monday to thank everyone who supported the petition and stating that Drue will stay behind bars for another 2 years. See Facebook post below. Drue admitted to being drunk and high while texting behind the wheel of his Volvo sedan which hit the Ford Explorer carrying four teens. Bailey Wind and Matt Hardy were both severely injured but survived the accident. If he serves the maximum, Drue will be in prison until 2028.
