Happy Birthday today (Feb. 12) to Brian Robertson. The former Thin Lizzy and Motorhead guitarist is 60. In remembrance, Doors keyboardist Ray Manzarek would have been 77 today. Manzarek lost a battle with bile duct cancer in 2013.

Scottish rock guitarist Brian Robertson is best known for his time with the band Thin Lizzy as well as a stint with Motorhead in the early 1980's. Robertson was hired as Thin Lizzy's guitarist along with Scott Gorham in 1974 when the band was auditioning for two new guitarists. The two lead guitarists were an important part of Thin Lizzy's signature sound (known to  critics as the "twin guitar attack"). He contributed to many classic Thin Lizzy albums including Jailbreak and the live album Live and Dangerous. He joined Motorhead in 1982 replacing guitarist "Fast" Eddie Clarke and performed on several albums.

Brian Robertson's influences include early blues guitarists along with Jeff Beck, Eric Clapton, and ZZ Top Billy Gibbons.
