The arena has been called Glens Falls Civic Center since 1979, but that has now changed.

According to the Times Union, officials of the Adirondack Civic Center Coalition who own the Adirondack Thunder hockey team announced recently that the arena will now be called Cool Insuring Arena. This due to the fact that the naming rights have been sold to Cool Insuring Agency of Queensbury. Cool Insuring Agency was founded by Charles W. Cool in 1857 (Cool was the first mayor of Glens Falls). They operate two offices in Latham and Queensbury. Civic Center Coalition president Dan Burke stated, "the financial terms of the agreement are favorable to both of us". The exact price tag of the five-year deal is not known.

Glens Falls Civic Center has been a big part of the Capital Region for entertainment for so many years including concerts and wrestling events. I personally don't like name changes, but let us hope this will be one for the better and that the venue will continue to bring in even bigger concerts and continue to bring wrestling events to the area.
