Here We Go Again! Old Clifton Park Kmart Could Become More Apartments
If you have traveled through Clifton Park you know that there is a ton of growth. There are new apartment complexes popping up. A few years ago there was a proposal to build new apartments at the old Kmart in the Shoppers World Plaza. That plan was shot down. The developers have a new proposal at the same site.
What Was The Original Plan?
Back in 2015 Windsor Development Group proposed a huge apartment complex where the old Kmart is in the Shoppers World plaza. They wanted to build two hundred apartments when there was an uptick to build more residential and mixed-use properties. Town officials opposed the plan and it was denied.
What is the New Proposal That is Being Presented?
The WindsorDevelopment Group downsized the original plan and is proposing to demolish the old Kmart and create an apartment complex. There would be one hundred units that would contain luxury apartments. On the thirteen acres, there would also be covered parking, a pocket park, rooftop terraces, a dog run, and other amenities according to the Albany Business Review. The location is ideal and close to The Northway and sits in the same plaza as Price Chopper Market 32.
What Happens Next?
The Clifton Park Town Planning Board would have to approve the site plan for the major redevelopment of that area. There have been several other apartment complexes built in and around that area recently. Windsor has already built an apartment complex off of Clifton Country Road in the Hannaford Plaza. They are hoping to continue to build more.
