New York State Police Catch This Homicide Suspect After Chase

The United States Department of Justice describes every 'routine traffic stop' as dangerous. Officers need to be aware, suspicious and in control of each situation. In other words, there is no such thing as a routine traffic stop.

Over the weekend New York State Troopers had what they thought was a routine traffic stop. What ended up happening was a car chase, foot chase and the eventual arrest of an individual wanted in connection with the discovery of a 29-year-old female victim, who was found bludgeoned to death in a shallow grave on November 8, 2024.

On Saturday February 15th, according to a press release, New York State Troopers in Westchester County spotted a vehicle reported stolen out of Virginia. Officers were able to pull the vehicle over but moments later the car sped away.

Troopers pursued the vehicle for approximately 1 mile and 1 minute before the suspect crashed the car. The suspect then fled on foot. Officers were able to catch the suspect and apprehend him.

At the time of the arrest the suspect supplied false identification and was found to be in possession of several forms of fake ID. Once fingerprinted it was determined that the suspect is Geovanni Otero.

Geovanni Otero is wanted by the Philadelphia Police Department and the United States Marshalls Services for homicide. New York State Police are charging him with;

Criminal Possession of Stolen Property
Obstructing Governmental Administration
False Impersonation
Unlawful Fleeing
Reckless Driving
