As comical as it might sound that cows are on the loose in New York State, it's actually a serious situation that began with an overturned tractor-trailer. Check out the video below to see how 6 individuals were trying to wrangle these cows following the accident.
On Sunday October 20th at approximately 6:15pm, New York State Police Troop F, responded to the intersection of Interstate 84 and U.S. Route 6 in the Orange County community of Deerpark, NY. The report was overturned tractor-trailer carrying livestock.
Following an investigation it was determined that 15 cows were able to escape due to damage to the trailer. Take a look at the video below as Troopers, farmers, fire fighters and EMS attempt to corral the wayward cows.
It appears that a 2006 Kenworth truck carrying cows of various breeds was traveling west when the operator of the truck realized the brakes had failed. The vehicle exited Interstate 84 at Exit 1, made a left turn onto Route 6 and struck a guardrail causing the vehicle to overturn. The driver of the truck suffered minor injuries.
A total of 15 cows escaped but approximately 6 are still on the loose. They should be easy to spot. State Police are asking anyone who sees the cows to contact the State Police at Greenville at 845-344-5300.
