The Albany Police issued a warning that wild animals have tested positive for Distemper. So they are recommending people keep an eye on their pets and keep them away from wildlife. In addition, they recommend they make sure their Distemper vaccination is up to date.

This weekend The Mohawk Hudson Humane Society will be having a Distemper Dog Vaccination Clinic. The clinic will be held 8 a.m. to noon March 1 at the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society's Animal Care Center at 3 Oakland Avenue. Each service costs $10.

Appointments are required. For more information, call 518-886-9645 or go to www.mohawkhumane.org

the symptoms of canine distemper look a lot like rabies. Usually the first thing you’ll notice is unusual eye discharge. Then comes a fever, runny nose and coughing, along with a lack of appetite and vomiting. Some, but not all, dogs will have neurological symptoms, like circling, twitching or seizures.
