In This Moment Rocks A Packed Hometown Crowd at the Palace Theatre
In This Moment, Motionless In White, Avatar, and Gemini Syndrome brought the ROCK to Albany last night! Check out our recap from the show plus some of our favorite shots from the night!
I have been unofficially calling last nights show at the Palace Theatre the "official kick off to concert season" for a little while now and let me tell you that the "Half God Half Devil Tour" definitely got me pumped for all the shows that are about to go down over the next 5 to 7 months or so!
Now my evening festivities didn't quite start off as fun as some of yours because I had some work to get done at the station but as I was browsing Instagram today I noticed that there were some great shots from yesterdays show posted so I decided to inject some into my show recap so you could enjoy some awesome visuals as well!
Gemini Syndrome started off the show for us last night at the Palace and unfortunately for me I ended up missing most of their set because (fortunately for me) I was trying to hook our Meet & Greet winners up with an introduction to In This Moment as you can see below...
After all that fun I had just enough time to use the restroom and grab a beverage before the start of Avatar's set and let me tell you ... those boys did NOT dissapoint! I didn't get a chance to catch their set while they were at Rock N' Derby last year so I was already pretty curious as to what their live show was going to be like and to be honest I think they stole the show last night. The best way I can think of to describe these talented characters is Circus Dracula meets metal tunes. Easily one of my new favs right now.
Motionless in White were up next and they absolutely killed it (as always) and even hooked us up with a pretty impressive cover of System of a Down's Chop Suey that would give Serj a run for his money.
Then came the main event ... In This Moment! The crowd was totally hyped for Maria Brink to bring her band back to her hometown to play again. The band pulled out all the stops with their stage show highlighting a wide array of theatrics and costume changes complete with wind tunnel blowing fans and crazy fog machines. To be honest at times it seemed it took away from the music a bit because there was so much going on. Still the band played all their big tunes and they sounded great. Which was not an easy task with those fans and all that hair Maria was sporting. That looked like it was a struggle.
From Blood to Whore the set was solid from beginning to end and I really enjoyed a few of the local anecdotes Maria was sharing with the crowd especially when she called out her 95 year old grandpa who was watching from the sound board and the whole audience turned to cheer him!
In the end it was an amazing night full of killer tunes where I ran into some old friends and made some new ones and I don't know about you but I'm already ready for the next show!
