So yesterday we told you about how the City of Albany Mayor Kathy Sheehan would be holding a press conference this morning at the Washington Avenue Armory to announce the return of Professional Basketball to the Capital Region.

Well, the word is out! Not only will the North American Premier Basketball League be coming to Albany in 2018 but the Albany Patroons will again be the Capital Region's team!

I think one of the coolest parts about this announcement is that as well as returning to the area the Patroons will once again call the Washington Avenue Armory home. I was a little skeptical at first that the announcement was being made at the Armory just for nostalgia purposes what with the city just finishing up putting in the new Capital Center and the Albany Devils leaving the Times Union Center. But I'm excited that they will be putting the Armory to good use again! I have still yet to set foot in there even though I literally drive past it every day.
