We all kind of expected it would be a busy offseason for Brandon Beane and the Buffalo Bills.  But busy might have been an understatement.

When the Bills played their last play against the Chiefs at Highmark Stadium at the beginning of 2024 we saw a lot of players in that uniform for the last time.  Almost immediately Brandon Beane and his team in the front office at One Bills Drive got to work.

But saying goodbye to some of our favorite players was just the beginning.  He has also gotten a bunch of players signed.

First, who did the Bills lose?

On March 6th, the Bills cut a huge number of players.  They said goodbye to Jordan Poyer, Tre'Davius White, Mitch Morse, Siran Neal, Deonte Hardy, and Nyheim Hines.

Stefon Diggs was traded for draft picks to the Houston Texans.

Then they lost players in free agency like Gabriel Davis, Dane Jackson, Leonard Floyd, Tim Settle, Jordan Phillips, Poona Ford, Tyrel Dodson, Trent Sherfield, Linval Joseph, Latavius Murray, and Kyle Allen.  They all found new teams.

Shaq Lawson, Tyler Matakevich, Linval Joseph, Latavius Murray, and Mica Hyde are all still a free agents.  Damien Harris has decided to retire after 5 years in the league.

The players that got re-signed

The Bills were able to extend players like Dion Dawkins, David Edwards, Quinton Morris, DaQuan Jones, and Ty Johnson.

They also re-signed two players who were not on the Bills last year but are former Bills, Mitch Trubisky, and punter Matt Haack.

So who are they replacing them with?

There were a lot of empty holes on the Buffalo Bills roster following free agency.  The Bills didn't have a lot of choice as they were up against the cap and couldn't really afford to spend the money on all of those players.  But as soon as free agency opened up in the NFL, Brandon Beane started signing players and he grabbed 10 more in the draft.

Here are some of the new names that the Bills will be heading into camp with.

Buffalo Bills Signed To "Futures" Contracts In 2024

These players have all been signed to what they call "futures contracts" in the NFL. It allows a team to claim the rights to a player as they make up the 90-man roster heading into OTAs and training camp. They're normally minimal amounts and are not guaranteed contracts.
