Deadly House Fire Deemed Arson By Albany Police
Fire is one of the most dangerous things on this planet. It spreads, kills, and destroys without mercy, taking along everything in its path.
A recent fire in Albany did exactly that, but investigators believe this particular one was not a force of nature, but a premeditated attack...
Twiller Street Fire
Tragedy struck the Capital region on October 6th 2025 when a home on Twiller street burned to the ground. The building was home to a family that had lived there for literal generations, and it was all gone in an instant.
Five people perished in the blaze, two adults and three children under the age of six. Albany Fire Chief Joseph Gregory called it one of the worst fires in Capital Region history. Turns out, none of this pain and heartbreak needed to happen.

Cause of the Fire
It was initially believed that the fire started on its own, whether a stove left on or a pipe bursting, but investigators were wary. It was discovered shortly after the fire that no major code issues were found, making the chance of this being an accident less and less likely.
Finally, on October 29th, almost a month later, the Albany Police released a statement that the cause of the fire was likely arson, and is now being investigated as a homicide. This completely changes the investigation, and will (hopefully) bring the culprit to justice sooner rather than later. For now, no new information has been given but anyone with information is asked to call the Albany Police Detective Division at (518) 462-8039.
