As of 6:30am Tuesday National Grid reports 2,400 without power in Albany County and overall 8,000 still without power. That's an improvement from 11:30pm Monday when 10,000 customers without power in Albany County and a total of 25,400 affected.

"We’re increasing our field force, extending evening and overnight work shifts and closely monitoring the weather forecast that calls for wind gusts up to 60 mph across portions of central and eastern New York. Our crews are at the ready if the storm impacts service. We recommend keeping flashlights and extra batteries at home and keeping mobile devices fully charged so you can stay connected in the event of an outage."

You can track power outages in the region or report one on the National Grid Website.

The Capital Region has transitioned from a Wind Advisory to a Wind Warning. Weather.gov explains that a warning indicates that conditions pose a threat to life or property. An advisory indicates conditions pose a significant inconvenience. With winds 25 to 35 mph and gusts continuing beyond 60 mph The warning is extended until Tuesday afternoon at 1pm

Around 9pm Monday I took the dog for a walk in Niskayuna and that is when I could really feel what was going on outside. I have a park-like bench on my front porch and that had been relocated by the wind. On the walk I saw a few mailboxes rolling down the street like tumbleweeds. These winds are blowing with an arctic cold front that the National Weather Service expected could bring a vicious mix of powerful gusts, snow squalls and brutal wind chills.

Tuesday expects to be a cold one with a high around 25 but we should be back to the 40's by Wednesday and they say we should see temps in the 50's early next week. March certainly is coming in like a lion. Let's hope that lamb is not far behind.
