Canadian Musician Cancels American Concerts Due To Deep Disdain for Trump’s Policies
A Canadian musician has decided to cancel all of his upcoming concerts scheduled in the United States due to a 'deep disdain' for what is happening in America politically.
On July 11th, Canadian musician Matthew Good took to social media to let his fans know that he is cancelling concerts in Pittsburgh on July 16th and Buffalo, at the Town Ballroom, on July 17th. With capacities of approximately 500 and 1,000 respectively, nearly 2,000 fans are met with disappointment.

From 1995 to 2001, Matthew Good was the lead singer and songwriter for the Matthew Good Band. In that time the Matthew Good Band was nominated for 21 Juno Awards, winning 4. In the years following the breakup of the band the singer/songwriter has pursued a solo career.
To my US fans, and friends. I’ve come to the personal decision, that I can’t, in good conscience carry out my dates this summer in your country. This is not fair to you, and I’m very well aware of that, but the truth is, every week that goes by, I have a deeper disdain for what’s going on there politically. - Matthew Good
It appears that Mr. Good has several reasons for cancelling the American shows but, generally speaking, President Trump and his policies are what seem to stand at the forefront of Good's issues.
Recently, it was announced that after a year of an imposed digital services tax, we (Canada) are backing down from that, to appease Mr. Trump’s government. This was approximately 2 billion dollars in revenue that has been accumulating, and we’re walking away from that. - Matthew Good
