Woah! This festival has been on my list for a couple of years now, this might have to be the year I finally make it happen!

After 33 years apart the original Misfits lineup featuring singer Glenn Danzig, bassist Jerry Only, and guitarist Doyle Wolfgang von Frankenstein will perform together on stage once again. A performance that hasn't happened since 1983!

The initial incarnation of the band only existed for 7 years from 1977-1983 then mounting tensions within the band came to a head when Glenn Danzig famously quit the band while on stage at a Halloween show in Detroit. While both Glenn and the band have performed songs as and by the Misfits over the years it took decades and a very  lengthy very public battle over the bands music and branding to get things situated.

The band has been very vocal about how and if this were to ever happen there would have to be some serious work put in on Glenn's part. In an interview with Loudwire back in 2014 Consequence of Sound has Jerry Only saying:

The thing is, I have an obligation to our fans. A lot of our fans are young and the thing is, we’re a very positive organization. We may have a lot of scary s–t, but we’re working out, we take care of mom, we’ve got jobs. It’s no bullshit. We work for what we’re doing. If we bring Glenn back in and he’s going to bring that dark, that real black stuff to the table, I don’t want that.

All the money in the world ain’t gonna make me sell out my fans. What I feel is that, I’d rather be where I am and be happy and be a positive influence than to be the richest man in the world and miserable and be a scumbag to the kids that follow us. I’m not doing that. I told Doyle that. I told him, ‘Hey look, if Glenn wants to come be a team player and leave that s–t at home, we’re good.’ That’s the name of the game.

I am totally game to see this reunion go down! This is one I totally thought I wouldn't see in my lifetime but hey, reunion gig's are selling BIG these days. Now the question remains Chicago or Denver?

Riot Fest goes down in Denver, CO September 2nd – 4th, at National Western Complex and in Chicago, IL September 16th – 18th at Douglas Park. Apparently tickets for both festivals are already on sale (get yours HERE) and the full line up is on the way soon!
