Happy Birthday today (March 12) to  bassist Steve Harris of Iron Maiden. He’s 62.

Steve Harris is the primary songwriter and founding member of Iron Maiden. He’s the only member of Iron Maiden to have remained with the band since the beginning, and has appeared on every album along with guitarist Dave Murray. Iron Maiden was formed 1975 out of east London by bassist and primary songwriter Steve Harris. The band were pioneers of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal and achieved initial success in the early 80’s, and have had several platinum and gold albums in the UK and U.S including 1982’s Number of the Beast.

Iron Maiden released their latest album The Book of Souls in 2015 and received great reviews. It was the band’s first double studio album and it was produced by longtime Iron Maiden collaborator Kevin Shirley. The Book of Souls Tour kicked off in Feb. 2016 and continued into this 2017. I saw them at Barclays Center in Brooklyn last year and it was amazing. Up the Irons! Cheers to Steve Harris on his birthday today!
