There is a new Caribbean restaurant in Troy that opened early last week but it only lasted a few days as they closed their doors. Calypso Restaraunt Bar Lounge at 77 Congress Street in Troy is located in the space where Troy Kitchen was but they weren't open long enough to serve any customers.

Why the Sudden Closure?

The notice says that they had to close their doors because a section of the city building codes dealing with certificates has not been met according to the Times Union. But if you check out the Calypso Restaurant Facebook page, this is what they are saying:

Hey everyone, we will be temporarily stopping our operation as we are doing some maintenance in our kitchen prep area. Sorry for any inconvenience and we look forward to serving you.

What Can We Expect at Calypso When They Open Again?

Calypso Restaurant will be serving Caribbean cuisine like jerk chicken, stew chicken, curry goat, oxtail, and other classic dishes. They are open Monday through Saturday from 4:30 pm until 11 pm. for takeout and delivery right now. You are not allowed to a walk-in order but you can do DoorDash, Uber Eats, or call the restaurant at 518-326-3624. They hope to meet all of the conditions and be open for customers inside the restaurant soon.

According to the Calypso Restaurant website, they offer " delicious West Indian fusion cuisine, professionally curated drinks, and a relaxed atmosphere". Although they have not yet applied for their liquor license, according to the state, they hope to be open and serve alcohol.
