
New York State Voter Registration Deadline
Have you made sure to vote in the last few elections? Sure you probably vote in the presidential elections, but what about some of the other general elections that take place during the years after we elect the president?
According to Voter Turnout they say that there is about 60% voter turnout in the presidential elections but a 20% drop from that in the midterm elections. We have a bigger midterm election coming up on November 3, 2026 and both sides are urging people tog et out and vote. In order to do that you have to be sure you are a registered voter.

The other night I was walking into Market 32 to pick up a few groceries and there was a table of women set up and they were asking people if they were registered to vote for 2026. I was surprised to see how many people weren't registered and signed up. I am registered to vote, but was able to grab a piece of candy they were offering in exchange for signing up.
When is the New York State voter registration deadline?
If you aren't registered to vote in New York State you have to make sure you are no later than October 24, 2026. If you aren't registered by then you will not be able to vote in this year's upcoming general election.
You may register at your local board of elections or any state agency participating in the National Voter Registration Act, on any business day throughout the year but, to be eligible to vote in the General Election
If you aren't registered to vote you must either register by mail or in person. You unfortunately can't register online for this. In New York you can easily register to vote when you are receiving or renewing your driver license. If you need to make changes to how you vote, like an address, you can make those changes online provided you are already registered to vote in the state.
