According to the Department of Justice there are many different items illegally smuggled into the United States. Some of the most profitable items include watches, drugs, cigarettes, liquor and exotic animals.

I can think of ways someone might sneak alcohol across the border but how does one hide exotic animals? Do you put a monkey in your backpack? A lizard in your suitcase? I can't confirm those but I can tell you one man tried to smuggle 3 snakes into this county and you won't believe where he hid them.

Syracuse.com reports that Calvin Bautista of Queens attempted to smuggle, not just 3 snakes, 3 Burmese python, into the United States by hiding them in his pants. I don't know about you but I wouldn't put any snake in my pants no matter how much money they might make me.

The Burmese python is an invasive species to the U.S. and that is because of smugglers like Mr. Bautista. The Burmese python has been described as a sit and wait predator meaning it will sit still until prey comes along and they attack. And this guy put 3 down his pants?

According to the State's Attorney's Office for the Northern District of New York, Bautista had the 3 snakes in his pants while he rode a bus that crossed the U.S. border from Canada. That had to be a big pair of pants.

Bautista is now facing a maximum of 20 years in prison and a fine up to $250,000 if convicted. It's not just illegal to own a Burmese python in New York, here are other animals that are banned.
