Have you noticed a higher police presence on Albany's Washington Avenue?

This is the main route that I travel each day when I am heading to the office or the gym and one thing that I have noticed a lot more of in the last couple of weeks are both Albany Police and New York State Troopers have increased their patrols of Washington Avenue in Albany.

Obviously I think there are a few factors at play here

One - that area goes from 45mph to 30mph and people do not slow down at all when the changeover happens. I know the city speed limit is what it is, but I think until you get past UAlbany it should remain 45mph.

Two -  it is close to the end of the month and maybe ticketing is low?

This is the area I have seen more police recently.

I would make sure that you're being cautious when traveling down this way for the time being. Not only have I seen more police I have seen a lot more people pulled over, and I would guess speeding is the culprit.

I know that on the highways this summer they've been doing a major crackdown on speeding here in New York State. How could you miss all those big signs telling you "better late than never?"

Will this Washington Ave patrol continue into the fall or is it just an end of August thing to wrap up a busy summer of travelers coming through? If I had an answer for you, I'd give it. If anyone with the police wants to clue us in, please do. Send us a message via the app, but not while driving.

Caught Speeding In New York

Do Radar Speed Signs actually help to slow the speed of drivers? Not for these New York drivers. Each of the following vehicles were spotted going between 10mph to 15mph over the speed limit on a residential street in the Capital Region of New York.
