One of the ‘World’s Best’ Hospitals Right Here in Capital Region
A new list is out that ranks all of the best hospitals in the world. There are nearly a dozen in New York state and one in the Capital Region that made the list.
What Distinguishes the Best Hospitals in the World?
A lot of what makes a hospital the best in the world according to the Newsweek poll, is the way these institutions adapted and changed during the pandemic. These hospitals were on the front lines during the COVID-19 pandemic and created and implemented strategies quickly. The list iof the World's Best has 2200 hospitals and 27 countries on it. The survey was based on medical experts' recommendations, patient surveys, and performance indicators.
What Capital Region Hospital Made the List?
For the second year in a row, Saratoga Hospital has been named one of the best hospitals in the world according to the Newsweek poll. There were eleven New York hospitals on the list. Nine of them were downstate, on Long Island, or in New York City. Rochester, NY also made the list. But Saratoga Hospital was the only one that was listed from the Capital Region.
Not only is it amazing that Saratoga Hospital was named one of the best hospitals in the world, it also is one of the smallest hospital in the state. They have only one hundred and seventy-one beds.
In a press release, CEO Angelo Calbone said:
