Habemus Papem  - Pope Francis is the new pope. Only two days into the conclave, 115 Roman Catholic cardinals have elected a new pontiff who faces the challenge of leading a church that is facing many challenges. People have been waiting for days to see the white smoke in Vatican City and now that that has happened, Argentinian Cardinal Bergoglio is the new pope has been announced as the new leader of the catholic church.

After a pope is elected, the man chosen declares what his name shall be through a traditional process. Cardinal Bergoglio choose the name Francis.

Pope Francis was known as Cardinal Bergoglio until today and is from Argentina. He is first pope that is not from Europe. He was born in 1936 in Buenos Aires, and became a Cardinal in 2001. He is considered conservative who opposes abortion, euthanasia  and marriage equality.
