Update: Thursday’s Thompson’s Lake Drowning Victim Identified

Update 8/12/22 4:58pm: The victim has been identified as 58 year old Mahbeer Magasa of Guyana. The cause of death is ruled to be asphyxiation due to drowning.

State Police and Albany County Sheriffs are on the scene at Thompson's Lake in East Berne for a possible drowning.

NewsChannel 13 reports a man went under Thursday and never resurfaced.

Albany County Sheriff Craig Apple confirms a man's body was recovered in 40 feet of water by the State Police dive team.

Police have not released the victims name, but News 10 reports he is not from the area. No word on what caused him to go under, police are continuing to investigate.
