Will it be a slasher horror film? Musician and director Rob Zombie has been asked to direct a film version of the Motley Crue memoir 'The Dirt'.  Not so fast!

No, I'm not doing the Motley Crue movie," Zombie told Undercover.fm, in a video interview set to be published next week. "I don't know where that [rumor] came from."

'The Dirt - Confessions of the World's Most Notorious Rock Band' was written by the band and Neil Strauss. The Dirt released in 2002, recounts the crazy inside life of the band in the '80s and '90s- a must read for all Crue fans.

Tommy Lee let the news slip to Billboard, also saying, "That would be a cool place to release some new music. It gives new reason for new music. People aren't really buying records these days, so it seems like a good place to maybe put something new from us."

Rob Zombie has directed the Halloween remake and other gorefests House Of 1000 Corpses, The Devil's Rejects and the forthcoming The Lords Of Salem. He is currently touring Australia on the Soundwave festival.

Meanwhile Motley Crue is gearing up to tour with Poison this summer including a stop here in the Capital Region.
