A skydiving Santa paid a visit to the Capital Region over the weekend.

According to saratogian.com, Santa Claus made a memorable entrance by parachute from the North Pole onto Ellms Family Farms in Ballston Spa Sunday. The visit is an annual tradition at the tree farm. Hundreds of families were on hand to greet Santa, who also brought along a few helpers. "We feel it's the official kickoff of the holiday season. It's a free activity for families, a great way to get everybody out and it's unique," said Garth Ellms. Despite some wintry showers early on, the skies cleared in time for Santa's arrival. The special event started as a small operation over 20 years, and has since grown. Mary Lang of Ballston Spa brought her 4 yr old twins to see the parachuting Santa for the first time. "We told them he's coming in early to check on people, if they're being good," she said.
