
New York State Police Discover More Than 16 Pounds of Ecstasy Following Traffic Stop In Saratoga
Man arrested following a traffic stop in Saratoga Springs. New York State Police discover more than 16 pounds of controlled substances.
On Tuesday October 14, 2025 at approximately 6:25pm, New York State Police stopped a vehicle traveling on I-87 in Saratoga Springs. Initially this vehicle was stopped for a Vehicle and Traffic violation. During the investigation Troopers found much more.

As Troopers conducted their investigation, with the assistance of State Police K9 “J,” they discovered multiple vacuum-sealed bags located in the vehicle. These bags contained approximately 16 pounds controlled substances known as Methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA) and approximately two pounds of the substances contained Fluorofentanyl.
The street name for Methylenedioxymethamphetamine is ecstasy or molly and the street name for Fluorofentanyl is Fentanyl.
New York State Troopers arrested the driver of the vehicle, identified as 43-year-old Joseph R. Warren of Playa Del Carmen, Mexico. Warren has been charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the first degree, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the second degree, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the third degree, and Vehicle and Traffic Law violations.
According to a press release, Mr. Warren was transported to State Police Saratoga for processing. He was arraigned at the Saratoga Springs City Court where he was remanded to the Saratoga County Correctional Facility without bail. The investigation is ongoing.
Ecstasy is a man-made drug that causes both hallucinogenic and stimulant effects. The drug was developed in Germany in the early twentieth century as an appetite suppressant, but today's users consume the drug for its hallucinogenic effects.
