Because, science ... and who am I to argue with science?

It looks like there was an extensive research study done by the good folks over at Oxford University and the results of this research are worth sharing a pint over!

The Telegraph actually reports that ...

People who enjoy a pint in a local bar, according to the research, are "significantly" happier, have more friends, better life satisfaction, and less likely to drink to excess.

Which I mostly agree with except the less likely to drink to excess statement, but we'll get to that in a minute.

Apparently the study also revealed that in a world where a huge chunk of your life is spent online, people tend to be starved for face to face interaction. And surprise, social skills seem to improve after having a nice adult beverage. So people are more likely to make friends and engage in face to face conversations while drinking and I guess people are more likely to engage in conversation in small bars or pubs rather than bigger establishments or clubs.

Now I could have told you all of this but then, I'm not a scientist. I do however beg to differ with their statement that "being a regular and drinking at a local spot will make you less likely to drink to excess." Let's be honest, we've all had a few to many on Tuesday, am I right?!?! Then again, this study was done in the UK so there may be some variances.

On that note, I think I'll head out for an ice cold pint, check out more deets from the study HERE.
