Guns N' Roses have enjoyed one of the most successful tours of all-time with Slash and Duff McKagan returning to join Axl Rose in the current lineup, but with the tour now a couple of years old, the questions from fans about the possibility of a new album have become more prominent. During a recent appearance on Trunk Nation, Slash spoke with host Eddie Trunk about the idea of a new disc.

The guitarist stated, "It's been talked about. I think everybody wants to do it, and we'll just see what happens. We've been busy doing this running around the planet." Though not a confirmed yes, like Rose in a recent interview with Iceland Magazine, the guitarist does seem open to it. Rose was asked a similar question, recently stating, "Right now our focus is on touring and the shows but everyone seems to be getting along so you never know," when asked about a potential new album.

The "Not in This Lifetime" tour, which started in 2016, was reported by Billboard earlier this year to be the fourth largest tour of all-time. But as Slash told Trunk (as transcribed by Blabbermouth), the massive run was not the initial plan. He recalls that it was initially meant to be five dates. "We didn't have a big, long-term thing [planned]. Axl and I got together, and we talked for a while and so on, and we thought it would be cool to these Coachella dates, because we [got] offered to get back together and do Coachella every year for years, and we obviously didn't do it [before]. So now that we were on good terms, it seemed like a good idea," said Slash. "So that was the basic focus — just to do those two shows and a couple of warm-up shows, so we did the Troubadour, one show in Vegas, in Mexico and the Coachella gigs. That went so well, and everything just fell back into place, so we said, 'Okay, we'll do this U.S. run that they're offering us,' and then everything just snowballed from there."

While the door is open for new music, it should be noted that Slash has a new album with Myles Kennedy and the Conspirators coming up later this year, while there have been multiple rumors of Axl Rose potentially recording an album with AC/DC. Meanwhile, the "Not in This Lifetime" continues to span the globe, with Mexico, Asia and more still on the itinerary for this year.
