If you feel like you could use a few snowflakes to kick your holiday spirit into high gear today, it looks like you will get your wish.

It feels like we have been long overdue for those first few inches accumulating of snow, but that will change for parts of Upstate New York and the Capital Region today.

Winter Weather Advisory In Effect

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for parts of Northern New York and Vermont starting this afternoon through Saturday afternoon. This includes eastern Rensselaer County and parts of Southern Vermont and the Berkshires, and most of the Adirondacks. At least a few inches of snow are expected in those areas.

The heavier snow band itself horseshoes around most of the Albany area, but the National Weather Service says does have a hazardous weather outlook for those areas we can still expect some messy weather in those areas with rain and snow showers from the afternoon into the evening.

More Winter Weather On Sunday

Saturday is looking like the pick of the weekend to get out and cut down that Christmas tree with plenty of sun and a high around 34. Things could get messy again on Sunday, with more snow showers and rain in the forecast with a high in the mid 30's.
