As the latest winter storm made it's way across New York State, it appears that it was the Capital Region's turn to take the brunt of the season. Instead of inches, or feet, of snow we have been caked in ice from Albany to Amsterdam and that has caused power outages for thousand of National Grid customers.

As of Monday February 17th at 1:00pm there were a total of 9,262 National Grid customers without power in the Empire State and the majority of those customers are in the Capital Region. Check the outage map below.

National Grid reports that most power outages are due to storms, high winds and flooding. With this storm we have at least 2 out of 3. Hospitals, police stations and other service buildings take priority over residential buildings when it comes to restoring power.

As of 12 Noon, the Capital Region has more than 7,000 customers without power. Here are some towns most affected:

  • Clifton Park
  • Burnt Hills
  • Galway
  • Country Knolls
