Someone Gets Paid Six Figures a Year to Protect Planets
According to a recent post by News 10, NASA is looking for a "planetary protection officer." It may sound like something out of a video game or sci-fi movie, but the position is real. AND it pays six figures a year! According to the News 10 post, it pays more specifically up to $187,000 per year.
Now, I may work in radio, but I also work as a nurse, protecting and caring for actual humans on this planet. And I can tell you, I don't make a fraction of that per year! The position does seem to require space travel, so I'll give it that. Space travel seems like it would take a lot out of you. Also, the position is under the Office of Safety and Mission Assurance for Planetary Protection, which sounds pretty official. It seems, reading through the job posting that the position does a number of duties involved in protecting other planets and vice versa from biological contamination during space exploration. I mean, we've got a lot of contamination here on our own planet, and I'm just saying, I would totally take a salary of six figures to work on the "contamination" to our own environment. Also, the job posting has an appointed time-length, starting with a three year term. Three years? That's nice job security to have.
Well, here at Q103, we can't give all of you hard workers out there $187,000 a year, but we CAN give you free concert tickets. All you need to do is nominate yourself or your hard working coworkers for our weekly WorkDay Distraction to win a pair of tickets, with our simple nomination form.
