According to saratogian.com, the Special Olympics torch passed through Saratoga Springs on Monday.

The Special Olympics Law Enforcement Torch Run celebrated it's 30th anniversary on Monday and local couple Dan and Deanna Ritzenberg were at the front of the line. They got to hold the torch in the final stretch of the run. "I started it with the torch until Congress Park, and then I ran with them while they finished" said Deanna Ritzenberg. The Ritzenberg's say that the run is important to them for meeting new people and friends in  law enforcement.

Monday's run was the first leg of the event according to Jennifer Frame, director of development Capital Region Special Olympics. The event leads up to the state summer games in Brockport Friday through Sunday with activities including basketball, bowlling, swimming, and tennis.
