Specialty Crossgates Mall Store to Close Toward End of Month

There is a specialty store inside Crossgates Mall that has only been open for a little over a year and will close toward the end of this month. It is a concept store one of only two in New York state and one of thirty in the country. The Amazon 4-Star store will close on March 19th.

What is the Amazon 4-Star Store?

The online retail giant opened thirty stores throughout the country that specialized in selling everything from clothing to electronics, household supplies, gadgets, and more. It also featured sections like "Trending Around Albany", "Creative Activities for Kids", and a "Most Wished For on Amazon.com" according to News 10. There was also a section where you could sign up for Prime right in-store to get the savings. They sold products that were rated 4 stars or higher and that's how they got the name.

Why is the Amazon 4-Star Store Closing?

The e-commerce giant said this week that they would close most of the thirty stores they have. The Crossgates Mall Amazon 4-Star Store is on the list to close on March 19th according to the Times Union. Employees at the Crossgates store said they didn't get a lot of information about why their store is closing. They did say that they heard Amazon is looking to hone in on the other branches of their businesses like Amazon Fresh which is a partnership with Whole Foods.

We aren't sure what will replace the Amazon 4-Star store inside Crossgates Mall. It seems like all of the local malls are turning into entertainment complexes offering a variety of different games and venues. Whatever it may be, I hope the store gets filled so there is more to offer inside the mall.
