Ticks are abundant this year. If you are worried about ticks day in and day out, you have every reason too. Hopefully, this article makes you feel better rather than worse.

Where I live I always worry about ticks. I have plenty of wooded areas surrounding me and after mowing the lawn I always take a shower. I read taking one lowers the probability of contracting Lyme disease if you have a tick on you. NYUP was gracious enough to gather statistics per county for the percentage of ticks that actually carry the disease. Here you go!

Worth noting, statewide only about half of the ticks carry it. Stats here are based on adult ticks.

  • Albany County: 64%
  • Columbia County: 45.3%
  • Fulton County: 41.9%
  • Greene County: 57.4%
  • Montgomery County: 46.3%
  • Rensselaer County: 42.3%
  • Saratoga County: 58%
  • Schenectady County: 49.4%
  • Schoharie County: 58.9%
  • Warren County: 61.5%
  • Washington County: 43.3%

Of course be careful this summer as ticks are all over the place, what seems to be more so than previous years.
